Hello, and welcome to Pencil Me Perfect. My name is June de Chazal, and by way of introduction, I’d like to share part of my story with you.
I am of pure Scottish descent from Kirkcaldy in the Kingdom of Fife.
In mid-June 1958, I was born in Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe and moved with my parents to South Africa when I was 23. I have worked in various capacities including Personal Assistant to Senior Businessmen, both in the Banking and Commercial fields ,as well as teaching Ballroom and Latin American Dancing, where I met my husband, one of my students: Robbie de Chazal. We did not really adhere to the rules of the Dancing Studio, where a large notice was placed above the doorway saying,
“STRICTLY NO FRATERNISATION BETWEEN STUDENTS AND TEACHERS”
The dancing studio did have a fire at one stage, and the Notice above was the only item that was not damaged – which we thought was a laugh. It did not really mean much to Robbie and me who had fallen in love over the 6 months after Robbie had joined the studio. We were married in the Winter of 1985. He gave me more than my surname; a lifetime of love and my three daughters.
In 2010, I started to write Poetry orchestrated, I am sure, by God. It gave me such happiness to create imagery with words. A publisher recommended that, if illustrated, these poems would have a better chance of being published. This then gave me the determination to teach myself to draw. There were many mediums to try: pastels, oils and watercolour, but nothing seemed to be quite as exciting as a pencil. I discovered there are a lot of different pencils from hard led to soft led, inks and charcoal. I was in Heaven, having the time of my life.Especially after my Art teacher told me, at the age of 11, that I was hopeless at the subject of Art. I was now quite pleased, that friends, family and even people I don’t know are truly liking the drawings.
My daughter, Emmeline, helped me to design this website for which I am incredibly grateful. I can now offer a service to those of you, my prospective clients, who would like to have a family dog or cat remembered, a grandchild or a portrait of anyone in your family drawn from a favourite photograph!
This is my passion and it is a great joy to share it with you. I continue to work as a Carer part time and now that Robbie has immigrated here to the UK with me, he is in need of care too.
Thank you for visiting my site and I hope you enjoy the Variety !
ENJOY !!
